Their elevation to partner further expands the deep bench of experienced litigators we offer companies around the globe,” said Vicki Freimann, the firm’s Managing Partner. “Their legal talent, creative thinking and responsiveness to clients poise us for continued success in 2012.” Los Angeles Kaufman, who joined the firm in January 2006, is an experienced trial attorney with an emphasis on commercial and business, consumer warranty and product liability matters. He has extensive trial and alternative dispute resolution experience, having tried to verdict several insurance coverage, product liability and consumer warranty cases since joining the firm. Kaufman is a member of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute and the Lemon Law Defense Counsel Alliance. He earned his J.D. from the Washington and Lee University School of Law (2003) and his B.A., Phi Beta Kappa, from Pennsylvania State University (1999). Sweeney, an attorney with the firm since 2007, has focused his practice on the representation of automobile manufacturers and financial institutions in defense and prosecution matters, including breach of contract, fraud and unfair business practices, Truth in Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, breach of warranty and product liability. He represents his clients from pre-litigation counseling through the first chair at trial. Sweeney is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’ San Francisco Having joined Carroll Burdick in 2007, Morrison specializes is defending foreign and domestic companies in products liability lawsuits and consumer class actions. His practice includes the representation of automobile manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies. Morrison has also successfully litigated a wide variety of complex commercial and business disputes involving letters-of-credit, low-income housing tax credit projects, restoration and redevelopment of previously contaminated sites, earn-out and incentive payments, and misappropriation of trade secrets. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of San Francisco School of Law (2002) and his B.A. in English from Stanford University (1997) where he received the Stanford Honor Athlete Award. Swick’s practice involves litigating and counseling insurance coverage and business matters in state and federal courts nationwide. Since joining Carroll Burdick in 2006, she represents insurers in coverage disputes involving general liability, product liability and environmental matters. Swick has also handled insurance coverage disputes pending in international arbitration and litigated cases involving government contracts, products liability, copyright and trademark infringement and executive compensation. Chair of the firm’s diversity committee, Swick also serves as an executive committee member and treasurer of the California Women Lawyers. She earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (2003) and her B.A., summa cum laude, from Texas Tech University (1999).
