BarrierBreak Technologies brings third edition of Techshare to India

Aim to impact estimated 72000 crore disability market, Techshare is India's only Pan-Disability Conference and Exhibition.
 
Jan. 18, 2012 - PRLog -- BarrierBreak Technologies today announced that Techshare India 2012, will be held in New Delhi on 6th and 7th February, 2012 at the India Habitat Centre. Techshare is Europe's biggest technology event to promote assistive technology for people with disabilities. Microsoft is the main sponsor for the event.

Brought to India by BarrierBreak Technologies, The National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) and Royal National Institute of Blind People (UK) Techshare is one of Europe's biggest technology events to promote accessible technology for people with disabilities. Ashoka Fellow Shilpi Kapoor, MD BarrierBreak Technologies who plans and executes the same says, "Technology can help remove the barriers that people with disabilities are facing."

Techshare is India's only Pan-Disability Conference and Exhibition.

Javed Abidi, Director of NCPEDP adds, " Disability is rightly a development issue, a progress issue and to my mind, an economic issue and Techshare approaches it in that light."

According to a study conducted by McKinsey and Company, it is costing India as much as Rs.72,000 crore per annum to care for its disabled citizens. Making products and services available to people with disability to enhance their lifestyle would only grow this market further.

Techshare India 2012 will exhibit and showcase IT products and services. The exhibition aims to allow visitors to browse through the latest in assistive technologies for people with disabilities. In addition, gaming and entertainment for the people with disability will be a special focus.

Some of the key speakers at the conference will be Rob Sinclair, Chief Accessibility Officer, Microsoft, , P J Mathew Martin, Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for Hearing Handicapped (AYJNIHH), Shalini Khanna, NAB and Kiran Kaja, Accessibility Engineer, Adobe Systems.

Stephen King,Group Director,Prevention & International Affairs,Royal National Institute of Blind People says, "This is a vital part of our collective effort to challenge and support governments and business to deliver the promises in the UN Convention on the rights of people with disabilities."

The two day exhibition and conference will witness participation from more than 500 delegates from government and non-profit organizations, educational institutes and corporate sectors from across the globe; where more than 50 speakers will address the issues related to accessibility standards and law. The exhibition will have more than 25 stalls that will display different IT hardware and software products and services for people with disabilities. Over 2000 people are expected to walk in and experience Techshare 2012.
