Communications 183 million litres of alcohol are consumed each year in Australia, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics 2009-10 and Australia Day is one of the most important days in the calendar. Many people celebrate with traditional BBQs and drink copious amounts of beer and wine. With this in mind, Friday 27th January 2012, could well be considered Black Friday for many businesses. After a heavy day of drinking by Australians all around the country on Australia Day, many businesses are expecting a huge downturn in productivity on Friday, with people calling in sick or being too hungover to work. Statistics show that around 6.6% of people who over-drink show up to the office still drunk (Flinders University Report, 2006). Australia is currently ranked 4th in the world based on annual consumption of beer per capita. According to the 2007 National Drug Strategy Household Survey, produced by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 83% of Australians reported that they drink alcohol and 40% of Australians drink on a weekly basis. Using this figure, if people choose to drink on Australia Day, there would be almost 9 million people drinking and possibly having hangovers. “If people take Security Feel Better after partying on Australia Day they will wake up hangover free and be able to function at work the next day”, said Michael Romm, Marketing Director, Security Feel Better. Artichoke extract is the key ingredient in Security Feel Better, which stops people from getting a hangover. It works by helping the liver remove alcohol from your system up to five times faster than normal. Don’t make Friday the 27th January, 2012 a ‘black Friday’ for businesses this year!
