Suffolk-based Y2k Academy & Church Sponsor “Developing My Plan For Re-entry Success” Course

Jan. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- (SUFFOLK, VIRGINIA) – Today, Dr. Princella F. Johnson, Founding Pastor of The Master’s House announced plans to offer a Re-Entry Class to local fathers returning to the Hampton Roads community from area prisons. “Developing My Plan for Re-Entry Success” is a new program developed by the church’s Y2K Academy community outreach ministry Y2K Dadz Responsible Fatherhood Initiative. The five-week course will be held February 2 through March 1, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. on Thursdays at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites, 1018 Centerbrooke Lane, Suffolk, Virginia 23434.

The Master’s House Church is freely sponsoring 10-12 Suffolk residents in collaboration with the 5th District’s Adult Probation & Parole Office, and is encouraging other local churches, courts, government agencies, philanthropists and businesses to sponsor other returning residents. Graduates of the program will each receive: an individualized re-entry plan for success playbook; Y2K Dadz Suited for Success FREE suit with accessories; Hampton Roads Re-Entry Community Resource Directory developed by Mr. James Bailey, President of the Hampton Roads Chapter of Virginia CURE; local listing of employers; criminal behavior/substance abuse relapse prevention strategies; and family reunification strategies. There will also be local speakers available to assist students as they identify their support systems and develop their plan for success.

“This is a public safety and human investment strategy that all citizens can get involved with by sponsoring a father,” states Dr. Johnson. “Anyone in our community with a desire to help prevent these men from returning to a life of crime may sponsor one or multiple students. The Master’s House is taking the lead by sponsoring 10. As our brother’s keeper, we all play a part in keeping our communities safe. That’s why we are seeking community support.” she said.
