Innovative Medical Products to exhibit hip and knee surgical devices at AAOS 2012

Jan. 26, 2012 - PRLog -- PLAINVILLE, Conn. – Innovative Medical Products, a global leader in patient positioning, will highlight several systems for knee and hip surgeries at the 2012 AAOS annual meeting in San Francisco (Booth #0451, Hall A, Moscone Center), Feb. 7-11.

Among the systems displayed will be the De Mayo Universal Distractor™, De Mayo Knee Positioner® and De Mayo Hip Positioner®.

IMP’s sterile distractor delivers precise, finite femoral distraction with a completely unobstructed view of the operative site. Reducing procedure time for Unicompartmental, Arthroscopies, ACL and TKA surgeries, the unique distractor eliminates the need for lamina spreaders, the use of a bone hook or manually pulling on the femur at the thigh throughout the surgical procedure.

Used in conjunction with the distractor, the De Mayo Knee Positioner® allows precise control of flexation, extension, tilt and rotation of the knee during surgery. In addition, the design of the knee positioner’s base has been re-engineered to a more narrow profile that is three pounds lighter than the earlier version. This lighter weight version meets all AORN/JCHAO weight requirements for sterilization and handling purposes.

Also at the AAOS event, IMP will display the De Mayo Hip Positioner® -- a complete hip positioning system that securely holds very thin or very obese patients in the lateral position. The obese patient does not require lifting by the staff, as the positioner is applied over the patient instead of lifting them onto a base. The system uniquely secures patients resulting in no abdominal pressure.
