New Ohio Law Equals Good News for Breweries

Feb. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- LAWRENCE, KS [February 1, 2012] – Grandstand Glassware is excited to provide

Effective in March 2012 production breweries will be allowed to have tasting rooms and
avoid a hefty fee when selling beer by the glass.

Previously in Ohio, brewers had to apply for a second permit for beer tasting, which often
meant paying around $4,000. Ohio House Bill 243, passed in December 2011 changed
that while boosting the state’s beer tourism and putting it more in line with wineries. The
new law also means that more micro-distilleries will be able to open for business outside
the Ohio counties of Hamilton, Franklin and Cuyahog.

Arthur Oestrike, Grandstand customer and owner of Athens, Ohio brewery Jackie O’s is
ready for the change. According to Oestrike his brewery has been paying the extra fee for
years and the new law will help their bottom line. Jackie O’s has a new production
facility in the works for 2012 and this law will enable them to open a taproom on site and
sell beer by the pint for sampling from this new location.
