Feb. 2, 2012 - PRLog -- A training organisation welcomed Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson to its centre on Station Road as it moves towards hitting its latest milestone in double quick time.

TBG Learning played host to the MP for Swindon North just weeks after celebrating helping 100 people in the area back into work since launching in the summer.

Mr Tomlinson took advantage of the opportunity to talk to customers and meet staff at TBG Learning, which is delivering the Government’s flagship Work Programme on behalf of Rehab JobFit by helping long-term unemployed people into work through a bespoke package of support and assistance.

Mr Tomlinson said: “TBG Learning has come a long way in a short space of time and is doing tremendous work across the town.

“It is refreshing to see the hard work being put in by TBG Learning’s staff to address unemployment in the town, and also the commitment of the residents to get back into work and help drive the local economy.

“I’d like to congratulate the organisation on surpassing its century mark of people helped back into work through the Work Programme and from what I’ve seen today I’m sure TBG Learning will be celebrating another major milestone very soon.”

The visit follows Robert Buckland, MP for Swindon South, officially opening TBG Learning’s centre in November.

Centre manager James Manners said: “We are working extremely hard with employers across Swindon to match people who have been unemployed for long periods with jobs and opportunities available in the town.

“It was a pleasure to welcome Mr Tomlinson to the centre to find out a bit more about how we operate and also give him the opportunity to meet some of our customers who have worked hard to get their careers back on track.

“Since Mr Buckland declared the centre open in November we have helped change the lives of dozens of people living in the area, which includes supporting more than 130 people back into work.

“In many cases this has involved us training people and then matching them to work trials or work experience placements which have then resulted in full-time employment.

“We’re pleased with the progress which has already been made and I’m confident with the great team we’ve got in place here that we will be hitting the 150 mark and then the 200 milestone before too long.”
