Could you be an Apprenticeship Ambassador in the Humber region?

Feb. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- Recent final statistics for apprenticeship starts in the full 2010/11 academic year showed that 457,200 were delivered nationally, a 63.5% increase on 2009/10 figures. And the growth taking place at all levels of learning, for all age groups, and across all sectors and all regions demonstrates the value placed apprenticeships by business and commerce.

As an Ambassador in the Humber sub-region, business leaders can support the National Apprentice ship Service at events, in business forums, in the media and through their own business networks. They would also have the opportunity to attend business events as keynote speakers or panellists.

All that is required is for Ambassadors to utilise their extensive business experience and knowledge to commit to spreading the word about the value of Apprenticeships in helping stimulate the economy across the region.

In exchange for a small time commitment to attend two or three Ambassador Network meetings a year, helping at high profile visits, supporting  VIP visits and speaking at external events, business people will have the right to call themselves a “Yorkshire and Humber Apprenticeship Ambassador”.  They will also have a case study on their business developed for them by the National Apprenticeship Service as well as obtain media and networking opportunities and be able to add an influencing voice to Government policy and the services to employers and apprenticeships.

Commenting on the initiative, Lord Haskins, Chair of the Humber LEP said:

“Apprenticeships still play a very important part in business today. They are especially vital for those who decide they do not wish to go on to formal higher education and prefer professional on-the-job training enabling them to start their careers immediately.

“The Humber LEP is keen for local business to not only support apprenticeships, but to seriously think about putting forward a senior member of staff to act as an Apprenticeship Ambassador in the sub-region.”

“Apprenticeships provide businesses with a significant return on investment by increasing productivity and introducing fresh new talent and innovation.  They are also a sound stepping stone for individuals to build successful careers.

“We are delighted to be building a strong network of Apprenticeship Ambassadors across Yorkshire, which I am certain will inspire more companies and individuals to reap the benefits of Apprenticeships for themselves.”
