Feb. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Robert's Rules Consulting, a new company based in Southern California, will answer questions by telephone and by e-mail about strategy and tactics involving proper parliamentary procedure, also known as "Robert's Rules."

The business telephone and the business e-mail address can be used as a "hot line" for quick answers for quick questions. The company web site has the traditional contact information, too.

Mr. Kim Goldsworthy, the company founder, is a Certified Parliamentarian and a Professional Registered Parliamentarian, with 25 years of experience in Robert's Rules of Order. He will be answering the incoming questions. Mr. Goldsworthy is available for in-person consultations, lectures, and lessons.

The target audience for the hot line is any person who is active in a nonprofit organization, or who sits on a board or a committee. Newly-elected officers for a given organization may need a refresher course on what practices are proper and current, according to the current edition of "Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised" (11th edition, 2011, published by DaCapo).

Mr. Goldsworthy adds that many people have countless misunderstandings about what the proper rule is, regarding many parliamentary practices. One example is the false "myth" that a majority is the same thing as "fifty percent plus one (50% + 1)" or "fifty-one percent (51%)." -- It is not; a "majority" means "more than half, which is not the same thing as either of those "myths."

Any organization which uses the democratic process like "majority rule," and is governed by a constitution and a set of bylaws, can benefit from getting correct advice about how to chair a meeting, or what motions are in-order for a given situation. For many people, their first experience with Robert's Rules might be their home-owners association, or their youth organization's board, like a PTA board, a Little League board, or a Boy Scouts council.

One of the best times to obtain the services of a parliamentarian is when a board goes on a retreat for increasing the group's teamwork and leadership skills. One of the educational programs can be a refresher course on proper parliamentary procedure, which is the best time to get straight answers about what the rules in Robert's Rules really say. One critical time to hire a parliamentarian is when one's bylaws or constitution is to be amended, and the document's text needs a thorough review for obsolete or irregular language, or gaps in procedure, or duplication/conflict of rules.

The hot line is the Robert's Rules Consulting business phone number: (626) 312-5431.
The e-mail address is: rrconsult@earthlink.net.
The company web site is: www.roberts-rules-consulting.com
