Chocks away for new Reading flying doctor!

Computer problems can spell disaster for your business. Companies today are so super reliant on technology, that an IT breakdown can have a catastrophic impact on business as usual.

Feb. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- But thanks to the arrival of the flying doctor, an onsite computer repair company, the business community in the Reading area can rest assured that, the next time their computer gets sick, has a virus or crashes, they will be diagnosed, treated and back to their old selves in no time.

It’s the GP for your PC. A trusted and reliable business which set up eight years ago providing IT support to businesses in Oxford, the flying doctor has appointed the company’s most recent franchise partner to offer the service to smaller businesses and residential customers in the Reading area.

Mike Jones has worked in the IT industry for over 20 years. He will be serving customers in a wide area around Reading, reaching out as far as Henley, Winnersh, Burghfield Common, Yattendon, Goring and Woodcote.

Founder of the company, John Batch, explains: “It is important that franchise partners share the company’s value sets and Mike shares the flying doctor ethos.

“Whereas the majority of IT support suppliers concentrate solely on fixing IT, we concentrate on the business issues caused by IT problems. We recognise the negative impact that a computer breakdown can have on a smaller business and our priority is to get them back on track as quickly as possible.”

This sometimes means solving an interim problem to keep the business running. For instance, when a customer’s printer broke down, the flying doctor printed the invoices out on their behalf, put them in envelopes, stamped and mailed them out, providing business continuity and cashflow, before setting about fixing the printer.

Of course it isn’t just hardware - printers, PCs and laptops - that break down or become infected. The internet now links us all to a global business community; it’s an invaluable research tool and allows us to conduct business through social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.  If the connection goes down, everything can grind to a halt.

Which is why Mike is on immediate call to his Reading customers, offering a maximum three quarters of an hour response time and is available evenings and weekends - by arrangement.

The flying doctor squadron has a strong customer ethic which includes staff uniforms, no call out fee and a courtesy call when they are on the way.  If they are unable to mend a computer, there’s a ‘no fix, no fee’ policy. “We’re in it for the long term,” says Mike, “We don’t ask customers to tie into annual contracts or charge monthly fees. Our aim is to build trust and solid relationships and it’s really important to me that customers use the flying doctor again because they want to, not because they have to.”

Growth of the business is driven by word of mouth, with 92.7% of new customers coming direct from recommendations. Among the current economic downturn, this is one business which seems to be going from strength to strength.
