Follow on Google News | Dr. Cara's Children's Dentistry Announces First Annual Bye Bye Binky DayIn honor of National Children's Dental Health Month Dr. Cara Schroeder, owner of Children's Dentistry of Wenatchee, WA announces their first annual Bye Bye Binky Day on Saturday, February 11th at Wenatchee Valley Mall featuring the Tooth Fairy
By: Helen Bolstad This event is tailored to toddlers who are having difficulty giving up their pacifiers (also known as binkys) on their own. The Tooth Fairy will be there to "collect" each child's binky(s) to donate to the new babies who need them. Dr. Cara states, "Giving up the pacifier is an important rite of passage in the development of toddlers and one that should be a positive one. The intention of this event is to allow the child to give up the pacifier habit on their own by donating them to the newborn babies who need them. This instills a spirit of independence and giving in children." Dr. Cara adds, "Using the pacifier after the eruption of permanent teeth could result in long term dental issues in the alignment of teeth. The goal is to gradually ween children off the pacifier and give positive encouragement to give it up."
