By: Steven White Germguard was trialled against Achticlor+, ( a chlorine releasing agent ) and the most widely used and current disinfectant cleaner used by the two NHS Hospitals. Germguard, being chlorine free, was cited in the trial as being an important find, as no loss of cleaning efficiency was reported, and chlorine releasing agents, ( such as Actichlor+ ) have been associated with hypersensitivity reactions from staff, and free chlorine, being a strong oxidising agent, is also a contributor to damage to medical devices and a contributor to the damage of the environment. The report goes on to say, this study, therefore provides evidence that Germguard can replace chlorine releasing agents without the loss of cleaning efficiency. Dr Chris Woodal "This is an important finding, because chlorine releasing agents have been associated with hypersensitivity reactions in staff. Free chlorine, being a strong oxidising agent, is also a contributor to damage of the environment, including medical devices. This study therefore provides evidence that the cleaning agent B, ( Germguard was supplied as agent B ) introduced during this study, can effectively replace chlorine releasing agents without a loss of cleaning efficiency."
