Adams Homes Completes Energy Star® Qualified Home In Orlando, Florida

In a positive step toward improving energy efficiency and fighting climate change, Adams Homes has taken the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) ENERGY STAR Challenge and completed the company's first Energy Star qualified home in Orlando.

Feb. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- The ENERGY STAR Challenge calls for a home to have a significant energy efficiency improvement, making it at least 30 percent more efficient than a typical home built at meet today’s energy codes. Energy is often generated by burning fossil fuels, which emits greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change, and commercial buildings and industrial facilities are responsible for forty-five percent of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. Using energy more efficiently will help reduce the country’s carbon footprint and save money.

"The Home Builders Association of Metro Orlando applauds Adams Homes’ latest initiative of designing, building and certifying their homes to meet or exceed the ENERGY STAR program guidelines.  ENERGY STAR qualified homes provide families with a better living environment, conserving energy and minimizing consumption of valuable resources.  With this decision it is clear that Adams Homes has recognized the importance of creating a better living environment while continuing to create American jobs" said Aldo Martin, President of The Home Builders Association of Metro Orlando.

"Saving money each month without compromising quality is very important to our home buyers and Adams Homes as a home builder." said Elizabeth Porter, General Manager of Adams Homes. “We are proud to be recognized as a home builder qualified with Energy Star.”

ENERGY STAR was introduced by EPA in 1992 as a voluntary, market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. Today, the ENERGY STAR label can be found on more than 60 different kinds of products as well as new homes and commercial and industrial buildings that meet strict energy-efficiency specifications set by the EPA. Last year alone, Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved $18 billion on their energy bills while reducing the greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 34 million vehicles.

Paul Richards, President of Armstrong Air & Heating in Orlando, Florida and a trade partner with Adams Homes said this, “As an HVAC Contractor, Energy Star has set standards that enable our customers to be provided with higher quality equipment and installations.  This directly results in significant savings for their home buyers and long term savings with lower electrical consumption, which in turn develops a relationship that is highly beneficial for all parties involved.  We are proud to participate in the program.”
