By: Poor No More inc 2008 Poor No More Productions, directed by Osseo resident and compassionate rebel Donald (DJ) Jackson, will present the kickoff event of Compassionate Rebels on the Move on Saturday, February 25 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the Empowerment Center in Brooklyn Center, 5801 John Martin Drive. in conjunction with the facility Owner. There is no admission charge for the event but attendees are urged to give what you can. The event will feature live music, a Jackson-produced short film, and storytelling by people featured in the new books: The Compassionate Rebel Revolution: Ordinary People Changing the World, which features stories of more than 60 social change activists from the Twin Cities metro area. It is a sequel to a previous book: The Compassionate Rebel: Energized by Anger, Motivated by Love, which included a story of Jackson. Both books are co-authored by Minneapolis resident Burt Berlowe who will be present at the Empowerment Center event. This will be the first in a series of touring events to be held throughout the Twin Cities metro area and beyond that will focus on the stories of compassionate rebels and the opportunity for audience members to share their stories. Poor No More Productions is campiagning to promote filmmakers, and talent while wanting to create jobs in the film industry. Its film credits include “No More Giving Up” the story of Jackson’s Quixotic attempt to purchase Brookdale Mall and convert it to a film studio, and a trailer of the new sitecom called Highway 100. which he is currently releasing in conjunction the recognition of the 50th anniversary of the now-defunct Brookdale shopping center.
