Taco Banh, a new Asian inspired Taqueria, opens in the Heart of Hillcrest

Feb. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Taco Banh, the upscale taqueria with an Asian twist, announced its plans to open its first location in the heart of Hillcrest, Calif. on February 24, 2012. The 1,000 square-foot restaurant will combine organic ingredients and all natural meats to create a distinct upscale taqueria experience.

The restaurant will offer specialties ranging from the classic banh mi inspired burrito with hoisin black beans, pickled dykon, carrots, cucumber, cilantro, avocado and sriracha chili paste, to salsas such as the ginger verde and papaya tomatillo. Guests can choose between Mary’s Farm free-range chicken, Niman Ranch pork, Imperial Farms American-Kobe beef or organic tofu along with a selection of house-made sauces and toppings.

“I grew up eating these flavor profiles,” said Chris Sayre, Taco Banh Owner and Chef. “In creating the menu, I envisioned an upscale taqueria with an Asian twist, and we created that with fine-dining standards, expectations and ingredients that are toned down for everyday dining.”

Taco Banh will have seating for 23 inside and 8 outside. The restaurant will feature a selection of Asian and local craft beers from Stone Brewery and Green Flash Brewery, to name a few. In addition, the restaurant will offer house red and white wines.

The Asian-industrial inspired environment will be organic and welcoming, with natural woods, metals and solid, festive tones.

Executive Chef Chris Sayre has worked in organic kitchens since 1996. Most recently, he was Executive Chef at the award-winning restaurant Paradise Grille in North County. Sayre believes that it takes more than great food to be a great restaurant. “Success is a trio of great food, great service and a welcoming atmosphere,” said Sayre.

Taco Banh will be located at 3850 Fifth Avenue in the heart of Hillcrest, Calif. The restaurant will be open daily from 11:30 a.m. to Midnight Sunday-Thursday and until 2:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
