Printing Company To Save Thousands Annually

Company to reduce enegy costs and carbon footprint under lighting scheme organised by LED-UK.co.uk

Feb. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- Due to the nature of the industry, printing is considered to be one of the industries that have a high level of energy consumption and with energy prices rising, Hastings Printing Company Ltd. considers energy reduction to be a key area in reducing its outgoings and carbon footprint.

To help meet their energy saving targets Hastings Printing Company, who celebrates their 100th birthday in three year’s time, has refitted its entire plant with energy efficient lights with support from the Energy Efficiency Financing scheme, a dedicated £550 million fund established by the Carbon Trust and Siemens Financial Services.  Under this scheme, businesses will find that the loan repayments are normally less than the savings earned from a reduced electricity bill.  In the case of Hastings Printing Company, the company is expected to make an annual saving of about £5000.00 or 69% of its lighting bill.  The project was organised and fitted by LED-UK.co.uk of Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex.

Mr. Shrager, managing director of LED-UK.co.uk, commented that the advantage of the company installing the lighting via this route meant that Hasting Printing Company could recoup their financial outlay within 18 months and from then onwards the savings can equate up to 70% of the company’s lighting bill.   Regular light bulbs have a short life span which increases the maintenance costs to businesses in the form of replacements.  The light fittings installed at Hastings Printing Company, have an expected lifespan of 10 years.

New technology means that these lights use between 60 to 80% less energy than the conventional lights and gives off considerably less heat.  As Mr. Shrager explained, “Typically a 4 watt LED light bulb will produce the same amount of light as a conventional 40 watt bulb.  In addition, LED and other energy efficient lights are available to replace almost all conventional lighting and can be used in any commercial or industrial building.”

Alison Knoll, managing director of Hastings Printing Company said “We are looking at voltage optimisers on the presses, and all energy savings as an ongoing process to achieve ISO14001”.  She further commented that, “We are very pleased with the service provided by LED-UK.co.uk, in particular the fact that the work was carried out, outside normal working hours, which meant that our operations would not be affected.”  Hasting Printing Company Ltd is based in St. Leonards, East Sussex.
