BACKGROUND

The Earth's increasing population means more pressure on finite resources. Consumers and governments are demanding a transformation on the agricultural production and more information in food products about the origins and the way the food they consume has been produced and traded. These factors, consumers, regulation, NGOs, along with social responsibility and environmental programs of the big players in the food industry, drive the implementation of sustainability programs along the entire food supply chain from field to plate.

Sustainability is about seeking ways of providing food, water and energy that are long-lasting and have less of an impact on the environment and local society.

PRESENTER

Mr. Ramiro Mejia, Business Development Manager – Sustainability, SGS

Ramiro has a B.S.C Degree in Chemistry and Master Degree in Environmental Engineering and Management. He is leading the development of SGS Sustainability Services.
