Globally, as in India, social enterprises are increasingly emerging as the most sustainable model for creating impact. There is also a significant rise in the amount of capital flowing into such businesses - often called 'impact investments'. A recent JP Morgan and Global Impact Investor Network (GIIN) report (Jan 2012) surveyed such investors around the world, and estimates that impact investing represents roughly USD 4 Bn in market potential in 2012. The primary objective of the residential program on March 9 and 10 in Indian School of Business (ISB) is to help the 2012 Sankalp Awards finalists become more investment-ready. The speakers and mentors include veteran investors, investment bankers, and entrepreneurs from across India, include Sangita Reddy, MD Apollo Hospitals; Alok Kejriwal, serial entrepreneur and Founder Games2Win and 20 others. They will help the entrepreneurs understanding their business model better and identify growth opportunities. They will also conduct sessions on 'How to Effectively Pitch to an Investor', and 'Understanding the Technicalities of the Capital Raising Process'. Since the entrepreneurs come from 6 different countries in Asia, the trainers will also facilitate cross-cultural and cross-geographical learning amongst them. Aparajita Agrawal, Co-founder Intellecap, who heads the Sankalp Forum initiative said, "We are excited about having created this opportunity along with ISB for the Sankalp Finalists. We are optimistic that the bootcamp will be a great platform for cross-sharing entrepreneurial experiences, learning and sharing by experts and investors that are serious about scaling up social enterprises in India and South-East Asia. Initiatives such as this, we hope, will go a long way in addressing the capacity constraints of MSME's and in making them investment-ready."
