Mother’s Day Curtain Raiser For Newton Abbot

March 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Mothering Sunday marks the start of the new racing season at Newton Abbot, with the racecourse set to enjoy an extended season from March until October.

During 2012, Newton Abbot Racecourse will host 19 fixtures over the seven month period, including three evening fixtures.

Racing highlights at the course include the family-favourite Easter Saturday meeting on April 7th, Ladies’ Day on Tuesday June 26th and the course’s landmark £100k prize fund fixture on August 4th.

Due to the enforced summer horseracing break period, the racecourse was scheduled to have a four-week period during July and August with no fixtures taking place. To ensure that the course did not miss the opportunity of thousands of holidaymakers enjoying the South West during the summer period, the racecourse has self-funded a fixture on August 4th with a prize fund of £100k.  

The prestigious self-funded fixture is set to attract some of the biggest names in horseracing to the course and will allow thousands to witness the excitement of watching top-class racehorses in full-flight.

Patrick Masterson, Managing Director at the racecourse discussed the forthcoming season: “We’re extremely excited about the new season at Newton Abbot. The addition of our August 4th fixture is set to be a tremendous spectacle in the racecourse’s history. The opportunity to see some of the very best horses, jockeys and trainers in action here in Newton Abbot will be an unmissable chance for seasoned racegoers and newcomers alike.”

“Seasoned racegoers at Newton Abbot will be pleased to hear that we will be continuing our 2-4-1 Paddock Enclosure ticket sale promotion for all Monday fixtures, when purchased at least one week in advance.”

“We have also extended our under 16s free entry policy to all students at colleges and universities throughout the country upon production of a valid student or NUS card.”

“Furthermore, to celebrate our landmark August 4th fixture, we are running a ticket promotion where all tickets for the fixture purchased before 4th July will cost just £10 with access to both the Course and Paddock Enclosures.”
