North Hollywood Gets New Independent Movie Theatre

March 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Something new and exciting is about to happen in the NoHo Arts District. The birth of The North Hollywood Independent Films Movie Theatre. The new movie house is located at 5101 Lankershim Blvd. on the second floor of the World Fitness Center. It is a 70-seat theatre with a Dolby surround sound system and a professional movie screen. This theatre will be officially opening in mid April and will show all types of independent films - dramas, comedies, music, shorts, etc. They will show local and worldwide movies from independent filmmakers, with an emphasis on local, North Hollywood filmmakers. Your movie experience will consist of several films, live music and a Q & A with film makers at the end of the evening.

The creator and founder of this new NoHo movie house idea is Jose Alcedo. Many readers may know Jose as the owner of "Indie Coffee" which was located at Pitfire Pizza and relocated to an expanded coffee bar at the World Fitness Center.

How did you come up with the idea of an independent film movie house to showcase local talent?
Jose: I have come in contact with hundreds of independent film makers, directors, actors and I always would ask them what happens to your movie after the festival circuit is over. The majority of filmmakers said they didn't know and felt very discouraged. That didn't make any sense to me that a creative hotbed like the NoHo Arts District did not have a place to showcase these films.

What do you want to accomplish?
Jose: Starting in April, I want show independent films every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I want filmmakers to have the opportunity to learn, grow and exhibit their films. I also want to develop a yearly North Hollywood independent film festival.

What changes do you want to see in NoHo?
Jose: I want to work with you to brand NoHo as a creative center for films and all arts. I want people to help put NoHo on the map...it is our time!

I had a great time at your private viewing. I am Still thinking about the film "Stained." Jose: "Stained" is an inspirational drama that audiences really enjoy. The director of this film is Jesse Collver who is the theatre's Creative Director.
