Michael Jay overcomes childhood tragedy and thrives in Hollywood

April 30, 2012 - PRLog -- Los Angeles, California, May 1, 2012 - (AP) – From the very beginning, Michael Jay was steadfastly determined to be anything but just another statistic. Though often swimming upstream against a system working hard to impede his progress, Michael (affectionately known as MJ to fans of his Wild 109 LA HD Radio Show), has risen from humble beginnings to a rapidly rising career in the entertainment industry. Overcoming early obstacles and sparked by things as simple as a game of football and a bit of encouragement from a pushy educator, Michael Jay's journey has seen him run a successful PR Firm, reach over 4 million listeners on his own radio show and has him on the hottest Red Carpet Events. Michael Jay's journey has been as remarkable as the man himself.

Born in Springfield, Ohio , Michael Jay spent his early childhood in a broken, abusive home. At the age of 7 he was sent by his father to live in his grandparents' home due to ongoing sexual abuse by his mother. Financial hardship led Michael to be moved into a foster home after his father remarried, abandoning his son. For two years, Michael lived in a Foster Home in Ohio with several other children. It was two years of relentless physical and sexual abuse. After having his complaints repeatedly ignored and being contiuously let down by the system, Michael took matters into his own hands. Realizing that he had to force the state's hand, he set fire to the family barn, an act that could not be ignored and finally got him free. Convinced that Michael was possessed, his Foster father dropped him off at the local children's home and left him for good.

Michael was then relocated to the Court County Children’s Home in Springfield, Ohio where he spent the remainder of his youth. When he was able to support himself, Michael left the system that turned its back on him. He is currently suing the State of Ohio for the years of abuse. Much to his horror, Michael recently discovered that the Foster family who inflicted sexual and physical abuse on him as a child are still currently serving the State of Ohio as Foster parents. Though no settlement can fix the past or remove the memories that still haunt him, he hopes that the courts can force them to make corrections so that no other child will suffer the way he did. He also plans to start a foundation with the money he receives in damages to provide scholarships and technical training to make it easier for children to transition from Foster care to their adult lives. Finally he hopes that his case will expose outdated laws and flaws in the system which failed him so that the children of Ohio can be safer and the state may lead the way in protecting at-risk youth.


With no role models to follow and no mentors to push him, Michael Jay relied on his drive and talents to mold his future. These tenants quickly became the building blocks to International exposure. As a teen, he saved enough money to  purchase a few turntables and a mixing board in order to follow in the footsteps of his idols “Chuck Leonard” (From Kiss FM Radio), Wolfgang Jack and Howard Stern. Taking gigs at the local skating rink, Michael DJ’d his way through college and into his career in the military. His service was cut tragically short due to a bullet wound to the chest he received while serving. The travel and hectic schedule of DJ’ing soon took a toll and Michael made a drastic move, starting up his own radio show in Ohio in 2007. By relentlessly working to perfect his craft and diligently researching his audience, Michael enjoyed a meteoric rise. Staying true to himself and breaking down barriers, he was able to successfully evolve and transition his show to one that earned him listeners internationally for his Radio Station Wild 109 HD Radio.

Moving to Los Angeles to help manage his wife’s blossoming modeling career, Michael decided to start his own PR Firm. Having seen enough success and failure to have learned from past mistakes Michael Jay realizes that in order to succeed he must focus with lazer-like precision on his career path if he is to successfully meet his goals. His most recent marriage very nearly cost him his career and he is not prepared to work tirelessly to obtain a position of security before making himself open and available to new relationships.
