Follow on Google News | ANOVA Science Education President to Speak at NSTA National Conference on Science EducationDr. Robert Landsman and teachers from New Mexico and Hawaii will team up to present about inquiry-based STEM distance learning and teacher professional development at the 2012 National Conference on Science Education.
The presentations will feature student and teacher impact resulting from scientific inquiry-based distance learning using the Research Investigation Process (RIP ® ) critical thinking and instruction model, and ANOVA Science’s 21st Century approach to teacher professional development (visit http://anovascience.com/ Irene Kamimura and Dr. Landsman will describe how the teaming up of teachers and a scientist implementing a scientific inquiry approach to professional development leads to highly successful instructional and learning outcomes. This talk, Effective Inquiry-Based Professional Development Leads to Successful Inquiry-Based Student Learning, is scheduled for Friday, March 30, 2012. The second presentation, Bridging the Digital Divide with Virtual Inquiry, on Saturday, March 31, will feature Jennifer Evans and Christine Kamimura, together with Dr. Landsman, and describe the joint inquiry conducted by their Hawaii and New Mexico fourth grade students together in a virtual laboratory spanning thousands of miles. The investigation focused on crystals and volcanos in the two states and targeted earth science standards.
