Zeus Global UK Supports Youth Unemployment Scheme

April 2, 2012 - PRLog -- Nick Clegg announced this morning that the Youth Contract would create 410,000 jobs over the next three years. He pledged that the jobs would be those “that are not just here today and gone tomorrow” as he launched the £1 billion scheme. Zeus Global UK, a direct marketing and sales company has been very aware of the difficulty faced by young people to get into employment, including graduates, and are incredibly pleased to see the government making a real effort to fix the problem.

Mr Clegg launched the project at a Job Centre Plus in Poplar, east London where he met up with many young people who will benefit from the scheme. Mr Clegg said, “There are close to a million young people that are out of work, that is a figure that is far too high and creates real long term scarring effects if young people are locked out of work.” The scheme aims to incentivise companies to take on relatively inexperienced young people. Mr Clegg continued, “What we are saying to employers is if you are wondering if you are going to take the plunge to employ a young person then we will help you make that decision by providing some money ourselves and we hope that will tip the employer in favour of the young person.”

The managing director of Zeus Global UK, Chris Huckfield, believes that scheme shows promise. “A lot of companies are looking to take on more experienced individuals when a job opening comes up. With money being tight at most companies they feel more confident in the abilities of someone who they can see has practical experience than someone who doesn’t. I think that this scheme will certainly incentivise those companies who are sitting on the fence.”

Zeus Global UK is a direct sales and marketing company who specialised in outsource campaigns for clients in the telecommunications and entertainment industry. What do they think about working with younger individuals? “At ZeusGlobal UK we have a number of young people, often just out of university, working alongside us. Though some of them had relatively little experience initially they have a great capacity to learn and also they had fantastic, fresh, ideas.”

Does Zeus Global UK think that the scheme will work? “Only time will tell” said Mr Huckfield, “I think that the ideas are great but that the team behind the scheme is going to have to put a lot of work into attracting businesses and companies and also supporting those young people to make sure they make the most of the opportunity.”
