Super Songwriter Jeff Maddox Scores Big In NMW Hot Country Singles ChartCountry star Jeff Maddox has burnt through the Hot Country Singles charts in country music like the winner of a NASCAR 500 competition. The Pearl, Mississippi songwriter has his second single record in the national charts this week.
By: Entertainment Headline News New York Lindsey Maddox (no relation) who is a local newsperson that has followed Jeff's career in country music writes, "The journey to the debut album entitled 'That's What Love Does' is anything but traditional." In 2006, Maddox solicited a friend, Rick Ottis to help record a demo "just for the fun of it." The ten song project wound up in a label that didn't quite fit the style of Maddox's music and in 2011 he signed a new record deal with Platinum Plus International that is distributed by The Orchard in New York. Since the new music deal and his guidance from veteran hit maker Robert Metzgar, Jeff Maddox has had real songwriting and artistic success both in the national charts and in person. His current single "Like I Need You" is published by Sony ATV Songs, the number one country publisher of hit songs in country music for the last 29 years. *See www.sonymusic.com Listening to Maddox speak about his songwriting, his unconventional route makes sense. He is thoughtful, honest and open to the opinions of others. His ideas about songwriting demonstrate a measured approach to his career. After his first top 10 Hot Country Single peaked last month, his label has released the second brand new single from the "That's What Love Does" album project. Jeff's album project can be purchased immediately at any of the large online retailers of country music. Buy it at iTunes.com or Amazon.com or at http://www.cdbaby.com/ The album project was produced by legendary session player Gary Branchaud. Mr. Branchaud as a bassist played on some of the greatest hit records in history for Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Charlie Daniels. Maddox credits Branchaud for fostering a more organic country sound that is true to the roots of country music but infused with gospel, folk and Maddox's rock heritage. The sixteen tracks will "knock your hat in the creek" according to Metzgar who arranged the label deal and got the distribution in New York. *See http://www.capitolmanagement.com Maddox is represented in New York by one of it's finest entertainment law firms. Jeffrey Jacobson, Esq. and his firm have represented the most prominent stars in the music business. After Maddox scored his first Top-40 single and while it was still on it's way into the top 10, Mr. Jacobson agreed to represent Jeff Maddox in seeking a major record deal. All four of the majors, Universal, Warner, Sony, & EMI have strong interest in Mr. Maddox's incredible songwriting skills. A larger even more prominent deal is currently in the works and it has been the guidance and help that his current management team has given that has led the way into these negotiations. Mr. Maddox's highly anticipated negotiations are ongoing as we go to press. "My job as a songwriter is to be patient and after engaging the right people, let them do their job and I'll continue to perform, write and be the person that I am." Maddox often thinks about moving to Nashville. However, in the process of helping his two boys with their homework, he also thinks about his family and wants to keep them in a stable enviornment. Mr. Metzgar advises me to always put my family first. Jeff's dad and mother are often there for him, backing his talent. Occasionally his father Archie will call Mr. Metzgar to see how his son is doing. *See www.robertmetzgar.com Mr. Metzgar tells him on Tuesdays when the charts are posted, "Mr. Maddox, Jeff has gained another few hundred spins at radio stations and we're on this record for another week." That promotion broke a NMW record last year when the song "Take It From Me" stayed in the charts nationally for a little over a year. "This week the new single has its debut in the national charts and it looks like I'll be talking to Mr. Maddox every Tuesday again for another year," Mr. Metzgar said with confidence.
