I Affirm to keep GOD in Government

As your elected Congressman, the first stand I will take in confronting “political correctness” will be to affirm God in Government, not religion in Government. God in Government!

Our founding fathers put God in the Constitution and in The Declaration of Independence, and I will not tolerate any government that tries to abolish God from our government,
schools or our work place.

Thomas Jefferson wrote a letter to the Baptist church referencing the separation of church and state. In it, he wrote with the intent of keeping government out of the church. History shows us that when the government dictates our churches, they dictate our fundamental beliefs as individual citizens.

This is what was happening in the colony of Virginia. Madison and Jefferson witnessed a coalition between the upper classes, the government and the church. The aristocracy supported the Government that in turn supported the Church of England, who looked the other way when it came to the aristocracy’s gambling and drinking. This led to the persecution of the frontier churches, which were the Baptists, Presbyterians and Methodists, who did not tolerate the gambling and drinking. The government looked the other way during these persecutions. Jefferson was adamant about not letting this happen on the national level with our Constitutional Government.

When government over steps its boundaries, twisting what our fore fathers put into place, Americans lose the freedoms for which they fought so hard. I believe in the separation of church and state. The government should keep out of our churches and out of the ways in which we express gratitude for the blessings of our country.
