Environmental Remediation Expert Receives Foundation Award

April 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Dr. James Dragun, a soil chemist and president of The Dragun Corporation, was one of two recipients of The Association for Environmental Health & Sciences (AEHS) Foundation and Achievement Awards (March 20, 2012).  According to AEHS, “This award is presented to individuals or organizations that have shown significant contributions to the field as well as outstanding environmental stewardship.”

Dr. Dragun, president of The Dragun Corporation, an environmental consulting and engineering firm, has authored/co-authored ten technical books and was a professor concurrently at the University of Massachusetts and Wayne State University.  For the past 20 years, Dr. Dragun has also been Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Soil and Sediment Contamination.  Dr. Dragun has also traveled to China, Europe, and the Middle East to share his knowledge on chemical fate and transport, which is critical to understanding how to best address environmental contaminants.  

When asked about his career highlights thus far, Dr. Dragun said, “I have always enjoyed the science of environmental remediation, but what keeps me motivated is using the science to help companies find cost-effective solutions.”  Dr. Dragun also said, “Too often, ‘techie’ science and engineering types forget that businesses want solutions at reasonable prices, not research projects.  Getting to an endpoint on a project that is supported by good science is still exciting.”
