Weidner Apartment Homes Debuts on NMHC’s Top 50 List of Owners and Managers

April 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Weidner Apartment Homes’ recent expansion has earned them a spot in the National Multi Housing Council’s (NMHC) authoritative ranking of the nation’s largest apartment owners and managers. As of January 1, 2012, Weidner has established their position on both lists, coming in at #43 of the largest apartment managers and #44 of the largest apartment owners.

In 2011, Weidner acquired 11,043 apartments, bringing their total portfolio to 31,551. They had the second-largest portfolio growth among property managers and the third-largest growth among owners. The privately-held company has continued their surge into 2012, growing to nearly 33,000 units.  

The majority of growth has occurred in their Arizona region, which has expanded to 22 communities (7,280 units), spanning from Phoenix to Tucson.  Their newest acquisitions include Alta Phoenix Lofts, a 332-unit luxury community located in downtown Phoenix, and Apartments at Steele Park, a 399-unit Phoenix community.

According to Jack O’Connor, Chief Operating Officer, Weidner plans to continue to expand into 2012 with the expectation to bring on 10 percent more units. Future business growth will be well-balanced mix of both new construction and acquisitions throughout their current markets.
