Retired Ventura County Sheriff Bob Brooks to Speak at YMCA's National Day of Prayer Breakfast

April 18, 2012 - PRLog -- THOUSAND OAKS, CALIF.--Bob Brooks, retired Ventura County Sheriff, is the keynote speaker for the Southeast Ventura County YMCA's 13th Annual National Day of Prayer Breakfast on May 3.  Breakfast will be from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. with the program from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the Gilbert Sports Center at Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. The theme for the morning is "One Nation Under God."

   Bob Brooks spent 37 years in Ventura County law enforcement with the last 12 1/2 years as Sheriff. He retired last year.

   Spiritual and community leaders from Agoura Hills, Oak Park, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Simi Valley and Moorpark will participate in the event. Prayer invocators are Dennis Gillette, former Thousand Oaks Mayor, Cantor Kenny Ellis, Temple Beth Ami, Pastor Larry Wagner, Ascension Lutheran Church, Pastor Drew Sams, Calvary Community Church and Yahya Merchant, Islamic Center of Conejo Valley.

   Last year, more than 450 people participated in the prayer breakfast. "The prayer breakfast has quickly become the celebration where people of all faiths come to pray for our nation and give thanks for our many blessings," says Politte. "You can't help but be uplifted and inspired."
   
   Mary Olson, general manager at KCLU, will be the master of ceremonies and Marie Pearson-Tarbet will provide the music.
