Polsinelli Shughart Attorney Honored with Justice Award

April 20, 2012 - PRLog -- More than 300 legal professionals from throughout the state of Missouri gathered at the Four Seasons Hotel on Thursday evening for the 14th annual “Women’s Justice Awards,” an event celebrating Missouri’s leading women professionals. Joan B. Killgore, shareholder at Polsinelli Shughart and adjunct professor at her alma mater Saint Louis University School of Law, received the “Business Practitioner” award in recognition of her enthusiastic dedication to health law and her commitment to students.

“I am pleased to congratulate Joan on this well deserved honor,” said Randy S. Gerber, managing director of the St. Louis office who attended the event. “Her dedication to both the fields of healthcare law and legal education are commendable. She brings a unique perspective to our firm, her clients and her students on a daily basis. I am proud to have her as a colleague.”

Killgore maintains a general transactional and regulatory health law practice, focusing on the representation of academic medical centers, hospitals, physicians, long term care facilities, ancillary medical service providers and other health care clients. With her background as a registered nurse and an adjunct professor for the Center for Health Care Studies at Saint Louis University School of Law, Killgore brings specialized clinical and technical experience to her health law practice.

She received her law degree, magna cum laude, from Saint Louis University in 2000 and was health law symposium editor of the law journal. Killgore graduated from the University of Virginia in 1986 with a bachelor of arts and received a nursing diploma from Missouri Baptist Medical Center School of Nursing.

In addition, Suzanne Bocell Bradley who practices in the firm’s St. Joseph, Missouri office was honored as a leading “Business Practitioner.” Bradley focuses on corporate law matters for individuals and businesses.

The “Women’s Justice Award Program” is produced by Missouri Lawyers Weekly, the state’s largest legal publication. The annual event culminates in an awards celebration for Missouri’s leading women professionals, including “Woman of the Year,” the highest honor of the night. In 2011, Polsinelli Shughart’s Grace Day was selected as the 2011 “Woman of the Year.”
