Lisa Turner Levison of derma-glove® presents to the Joint Commission

April 24, 2012 - PRLog -- On Wednesday, August 5, 2009, Lisa Turner Levison and DRS's research and development team flew to Chicago to introduce one of the few products in the country, chosen among several, to be considered as an improvement to the Joint Commission's 46 step hand hygiene protocol. If approved by the Joint Commission, derma-glove® could potentially become a new step in the Joint Commission’s hand hygiene protocol for healthcare institutions. Hospitals would replace traditional alcohol-based hand sanitizers that protect against germs for less than 60 seconds, with the long-lasting capabilities of derma-glove®. derma-glove®  is a gel or spray hand sanitizer that provides a protective shield or “invisible glove” on the skin using antimicrobial ingredients that bond to the skin to provide not only a 99.99% instant kill, but hours of protection against germs.

Three hospitals, in particular, have volunteered to run test trials of the product following their request for clinical laboratory studies done to develop the product thus far. Melody Dickerson of Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital stated that “It is encouraging that you have begun working to adapt your product already based on our feedback; I'll look forward to working with you further.” Jennifer Blaha of Cedars-Sinai Health System stated, “We are interested in its efficacy on different hospital acquired infections.”  As DRS continues to enhance derma-glove®, the team plans to continue working with both Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital and Cedars Sinai Health System, as well as The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System who has volunteered to run trials of derma-glove® in their simulation center following their review of DRS’s independent, third-party laboratory test results verifying that derma-glove® boasts a long-lasting kill against germs.
