Paul Lawrence Vann Delivers Communication & Leadership Award Speech at District 27 Spring Conference

May 5, 2012 - PRLog -- The Toastmasters International, District 27 Spring Conference takes place May 11-12, at the Naval District Washington, The Washington Navy Yard. Motivational Speaker and Author Paul Lawrence Vann is going to deliver the Communication and Leadership Award luncheon address on May 12.

Vann's speech is titled, The Road to Speaker Success Is Always Under Construction.  "Some people think success as a speaker happens over night, rather it takes intense training, coaching and commitment for a speaker to achieve success in the speaking industry," states Vann.

While a Captain in the United States Air Force, Paul Lawrence Vann competed for the highly coveted Headquarters Communications Command Speaker's Bureau and was selected to deliver a nine projector, synchronized slide presentation which featured jets flying in the background and a lot of fighter pilot footage.

Fast forward  a few years later, Vann had served over 12 consecutive years in the Pentagon, including a year as a Capitol Hill Fellow working on the personal staff of a member of Congress, in the U.S. House of Representatives.

While attending a transition workshop to prepare for retirement, lieutenant colonel Vann was asked what he was passionate about and he answered public speaking. Paul Lawrence Vann joined Word Wrights Toastmaster Club in Fort Washington, Maryland and it helped hone his speaking skills because he spoke at practically every meeting and competed in speaking contest as well.

That's not all, he hired the late Dottie Walters as his first speaking coach, she was the author of Speak and Grow Rich and she had over 50 years in the speaking industry and set Paul on a course for speaking success. Paul also attended the Bill Gove Speech Workshop and the Million Dollar Speaking Program.

Today, Vann is an international motivational speaker, certified professional coach, author of the books, Living on Higher Ground and co-author of 101 Great Ways to Enhance Your Career. He is host of The Wealthy Speaker Show and has produced,  hosted and interviewed over 400 guest in four years.
