theWord Wins Maintenance Contract for Welsh Health Telephone Network Core switches

theWord recently won the tender to support the Mitel elements of the Welsh Health Telephony Network managed by NHS Wales Informatics Services. The network allows Welsh Health Boards and NHS trusts to make free calls within the network.
 
May 8, 2012 - PRLog -- theWord along with existing provider Daisy and  a number of other providers was recently invited to tender for the support of the Mitel elements of the Welsh Health Telephony Network (WHTN) by NHS Wales Informatics Services.  

The WHTN provides the telephony backbone that the Welsh Health Boards and NHS trusts connect to in order to make calls to other health services  on the network. This vital part of the telephony structure is managed by NHS Wales Informatics Services (NWIS).  
theWord is a Mitel Select Partner with a team of qualified Mitel engineers who offer customer specified levels of support for telephone systems across Wales and the South West.

theWord were successful in the tender process and as a result have been awarded an initial contract for 12 months with the option to extend by a further 24 months. Going forward, theWord will be providing 24/7 support of the Mitel 3300 telephone systems based at two sites in Cardiff and ‘standard working hours’ service response for a further Mitel system based in a site in Pencoed.

In addition to this support contract, theWord has also provided Mitel 3300 systems to act as IP gateways to enable some of the Welsh Health Boards and trusts to connect their legacy telephony systems to the WHTN using IP connectivity.
