Essex Theatre Arts Studio Announces World Premiere of Love Knots June 1-8, 2012 at Cincy Fringe Fest

Co-Director of Essex Theatre Arts Studio and director/producer Bob Allen said the world premiere of Love Knots, a new play by Kentucky playwright Philip Paradis, will be presented at the 2012 Cincinnati Fringe Festival, June 1-8, 2012.

May 13, 2012 - PRLog -- Cincinnati, OH  (May 12, 2012) Co-Director of Essex Theatre Arts Studio (ETAS) and director/producer Bob Allen has announced that he will direct a cast of fifteen tri-state actors to perform the world premiere of Love Knots (a love-fest of short plays) by Kentucky playwright Philip Paradis.  The ninety-minute show Love Knots, which is a compilation of five short comedies dealing with love’s manifestations and complications, will be presented by Essex Theatre Arts Studio at the 2012 Cincinnati Fringe Festival. The five performances of Love Knots will be presented at the Emery Theatre, 1112 Walnut St., Cincinnati, OH 45202.

Performance dates and times of Love Knots are as follows:
Friday, June 1, at 8:45 PM
Sunday, June 3, at 7:15 PM
Monday, June 4, at 8:30 PM
Thursday, June 7, at 9:00 PM
Friday, June 8, at 7:00 PM

Playwright Philip Paradis was recently named a semi-finalist in the Kentucky Theatre Association’s 2011 New Play Competition for his play Soldiers' Christmas.  His short comedy Powder Puff Heist will be presented at the Salve Regina University New Play Festival next month in Newport, RI.  Last season his comedy Sunny Side Up was produced at the North Park Playwright Festival, San Diego, CA.  His Footprints of the Polar Bear won the Cincinnati Directors Competition in 2008 and was also produced by Blue Chip Players at Monmouth Theater, Newport, KY in 2008.  Paradis is a Dramatists Guild member and lives with his wife and son in Fort Thomas, KY.

Allen and Co-director Elizabeth A. Harris created Essex Theatre Arts Studio in 2010. Since then, ETAS has provided community performances of new and seldom seen works, workshops and opportunities for playwrights, acting classes and training, rehearsal space, and educational outreach. ETAS chooses its actors from among the best available working actors in Greater Cincinnati. Allen noted that nine local actors active in semi-professional and community theater and six students from The Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Drama Department have been selected to perform in the premiere of Love Knots.
