Coatesville, PA - May 17, 2012 – A ribbon cutting ceremony was held recently to mark the opening of the new Courtyard by Marriott in Coatesville. A distinguished group of Pennsylvania state dignitaries, including State Senator John Rafferty, State Representative Tim Hennessey, and Secretary of the Commonwealth Carol Aichele, joined Chester County commissioners, Coatesville city officials, hotel ownership, and Waterford Hotel Group representatives at the ceremony to officially introduce the new hotel.

The 125-room, four-story Courtyard Philadelphia Coatesville is part of a 22-acre redevelopment project known as “30 West”. The project is celebrated as a major public-private partnership in creating new jobs in this formerly industrial town while building a modern gateway to Coatesville from the region’s central intersection of routes 30 and 82.  Located at 600 Manor Road, the hotel is owned by Coatesville Inn Associates, an affiliate of the hotel’s developer Oliver Tyrone Pulver Corporation; operates as a Marriott franchise; and, is managed by Waterford Hotel Group.

The new hotel represents an important step in the more than eight-year public-private effort to bring the $36 million redevelopment project to fruition.  The development will also include an 80,000 square foot office building.  Once complete, the new hotel and office tower together will employ about 330 people, over 10% of Coatesville’s current job base.  “Today marks a special occasion in Coatesville with the opening of the new Courtyard by Marriott,” said Developer Donald W. Pulver, president of Oliver Tyrone Pulver Corporation, during the ribbon cutting ceremony.  “This is a perfect example of public and private coming together for progress and we are grateful to everyone involved who made this possible, including the federal, state, county and city agencies, and the entire development team,” added Pulver.

“We knew this would be a big first step in the redevelopment of the Coatesville area, for Chester County, and for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” said Senator John Rafferty at the grand opening event.  “We now have a glorious and magnificent hotel for the City of Coatesville, and the cornerstone for rebuilding this area of Chester County and making it an economic engine once again for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” added Senator Rafferty.

The Courtyard Philadelphia Coatesville is the 500th in the Courtyard brand and the first in the area to feature Marriott’s “refreshing business” makeover which includes an open, bright and contemporary new Courtyard hotel lobby.  The hotel also features The Bistro restaurant, an indoor swimming pool with whirlpool spa, fitness center, guest laundry and a business center.  The hotel also offers 1,100 square feet of meeting space to accommodate meetings and functions for up to 60 people.  It offers guests convenient access to the QVC Home Shopping Network headquarters, Longwood Gardens, Amish Country and the Sight & Sound Theater.
