Biamp Systems Recognized As a Finalist in the 2012 AV Technology End-User Awards

Acknowledged in the Best Distance Learning System and Best New App to Manage AV Systems categories

May 18, 2012 - PRLog -- – BEAVERTON, OR — Biamp Systems, a leading provider of innovative, networked media systems, has been named a finalist in AV Technology Magazine’s 2012 AV Technology End-User Awards for Best Distance Learning System category for its product Tesira, and Best New App to Manage AV Systems for its Dialer App.

The 2012 AV Technology Awards is the only industry award program that recognizes outstanding AV end-users, tech managers, facility directors, and the product manufacturers that provide reliable, easy-to-operate, and forward-thinking products. The manufacturers who respond to and anticipate the needs of the end-user community receive recognition in this Awards Program. The decision matrix for entries included: ROI/total cost of ownership, ease of use, reliability, versatility, and overall network impact.

Tesira is Biamp's first digital signal processor (DSP)-based networked media system to use AVB as the primary digital media transport. AVB is the new IEEE open standard that allows media streams to be carried over Ethernet networks, using existing cable infrastructure, alongside traditional data. Tesira also improves programming efficiency by allowing for system configuration in a partitioned approach, making it possible to design, configure, update and maintain distinct portions of a system without affecting those that are currently in use, and without having to reconfigure the entire system.

The Biamp Dialer application uses an intuitive interface that allows users to access their contact list to initiate conference calls rather than using a dial pad and manually entering phone numbers. The Biamp Dialer application works with Audia® and Nexia® products to enable better control of calls. The app offers two level controls for the best audio quality and intelligibility when conferencing. Additionally, the app has a speed dial function for even more convenience and control.

"Biamp recognizes the powerful prospects of AVB and the emergence of the tablet as only a couple examples of important technologies driving significant change in systems approach and user experience,” said Steve Metzger, president of Biamp Systems. “The speed and number of new technologies, coupled with market shifts and new user demands continue to push manufacturers like Biamp in new ways. Everyone here who lives and breathes the development and support of our products, and our customers, whose trust we work hard to earn every day, jointly represent the partnership that this award nomination recognizes. We don’t build products and services with awards in mind—our focus is on serving our customers, so our aim is to push boundaries that serve them best. Although awards are not our goal, Biamp is honored to be nominated as a finalist for the 2012 AV Technology Award.”
