By: The Passion Group - Asbury Park, NJ Bring your appetite along with your friends and plan to spend the entire day because the food lineup looks amazing! In addition to all of the great Jersey Shore festival foods including Jersey Fresh Seafood, Smokin’ BBQ, Roasted Jersey Corn, Kettle Corn, Funnel Cakes, Zeppoles, and of course, Boardwalk Fries; Summerfest will be showcasing Point Pleasant’s own Shore Fresh Seafood, Ralph’s Italian Ice and the Point Lobster Company. To rinse all that down, there will be a variety of beverages on-site including a selection of Barefoot Wines, Ice Cold Coors Light, Craft beers and non-alcoholic beverages including an all-you-can- The food isn’t the only reason to join the Chamber at Summerfest; the band promises to be rocking with Sharon Malone opening up the morning with the National Anthem followed by the Rock-N-Roll Chorus. This talented group does it all – voices only - all your favorites with a new twist. This energetic cast not only consists of the best high school-aged singers, but they are molded by the most exceptional staff members including Joe Cantaffa, Fredi Walker-Browne, Eric Thompson, Mary Huhmann, Jess Pomeroy, and Bill Burke. Next in the music lineup is the band, Happy Hour, comprised of former members of the internationally known band, Irie Sound. This will be their first time playing the Summerfest Bandshell under their new name, but we expect the same great sounds we have heard in the past. Hailing from Philadelphia, PA but often heard; in Asbury Park, NJ is the next band; Underwater Country Club. A fairly young band, UWCC was established by singer songwriting brothers Andrew and Skip Robinson. They have an extensive tour schedule and often take the stage with an assortment of musicians. We can’t wait to see who they bring to perform this year! Next up is Point Pleasant’s own Matt Wade with his energetic mix of piano, pop and rock. Fresh off from winning “Top Keyboard Player” last year at the Asbury Park Music Awards and busy in the studio working on his 3rd album, Summerfest is blessed to have Matt Wade on stage as well as volunteering his time behind the scenes. The final band of the day will be Random Test; for almost a decade, they have been rocking the Jersey Shore with music heavily coated in Caribbean traditions. Bring the kids, and grandkids, and the neighbors’ kids too because you won’t want to miss the family rides and entertainment. Part of the success of Summerfest is the focus on making the event fun for the whole family. In 2011, Summerfest introduced a huge 40’ slide, along with mechanical rides such as the spinning t-cups and the gyro-jump. Festival producers promise those will be back along with some great new attractions like a giant Ferris wheel, climbing wall and additional inflatable activities . Summerfest will continue its long tradition of providing free face painting for the little ones along with a variety of strolling performers, clowns and balloon artists. A variety of craft and specialty vendors will also be on hand, creating an outdoor shopping mecca.
