My Poetry Journal-poetry painting exhibit At The Zaikka Indian Grill, Wilmington De June 1, 2012

May 22, 2012 - PRLog -- The Opening Reception of “My Poetry Journal” featuring the poetry paintings of artist, Stephanie Geffert  will be held at the Zaikka Indian Grill in downtown Wilmington, DE on 209 N. Market Street from 5:00-8:30 PM on Friday, June 1st, 2012 as part of Wilmington’s Art on the town-first Friday event.  Enjoy art and live music!

Each poetry painting is hand painted on canvas by Stephanie Geffert and is designed with her own poetry from her private poetry journal collection.  The poems featured in ‘My Poetry Journal’ will include poems from her middle school, high school, and current poetry journals.  Many poems and poetry paintings will be revealed to the public for the very first time.

The concept for the poetry painting came to her after she wrote the poem, Key to My Soul in 2010.  She originally had not intended it to become a painting but felt a very strong pull to start putting the words on canvas.  It felt as if her two passions collided into one and now her poems have been given a voice she feels makes them even more tangible to her viewers.

About the Artist:
Stephanie Geffert loves to combine her love for painting and writing with, acrylic on canvas Poetry Paintings.  While she now focuses on poetry paintings she still creates folksy artwork for children and the young at heart called, Folksy Art.  Stephanie Geffert is also the founder of Stevana Arts and has created resources and art for survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse.  50% of her proceeds from the sale of each Stevana Arts item are donated to help survivors of abuse.
