Thailand Tourism Still Gaining Much To Banyan Tree Bangkok’s Excitement

Despite environmental and political threats and the disappointing decline of Malaysian visitors by 20%, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports is happy to report that the country’s tourism industry remains strong. Within the month, Thailand was able to welcome 1,659,021 international tourists, which was higher by 7% over April 2011 statistics. The biggest improvement was observed from European countries like Sweden and Finland, supplying 35,559 (a 101.52% increase) and 17,348 (a 120.94% improvement) respectively. The United Kingdom’s figures dropped by as much as 16.32% on top of Ireland, with a decline of 11.17%. American and Australian tourists have dropped in percentage the preceding month, after being strong suppliers for years. According to check-in reports, the five major areas that received the most visits last month were Suvarnabhumi, Phuket, Songkhla, Nong Khai and Aranyaprathet. With the summer vacation on the way, the Ministry as well as several local businesses anticipate further enhancement of the figures in May, June and July.
