May 28, 2012 - PRLog -- When tourists come to San Diego they often want to find the best San Diego seafood available. The best way to research for the best restaurant to visit is to look on directories such as Yelp, Urbanspoon, Tripadvisor, and Google, etc.

That’s what I did and I found Escape Fish Bar with higher ratings than most of the larger, better known restaurants in the area. I had never heard of Escape Fish Bar, but they were rated 4 and 5 stars for the best San Diego seafood, so I was ready to give it a try. Wow! I’m glad I did.

Here is a restaurant located in the popular Gaslamp District of San Diego that is easy to miss. It is located at 738 5th Ave. and is sandwiched in between a jewelry store and a larger restaurant. I guess you’d say it’s a small restaurant with a big reputation. People who live in San Diego know of this great restaurant and will tell you that they do provide the best San Diego seafood available.

Everything is made fresh because Scott Quan, the owner, shops daily for the fish and vegetables that he needs to prepare those days meals. He tailored his restaurant after one he discovered in Victoria, British Columbia named Red Fish Blue Fish. He was so impressed with what he saw, with people lining up in droves to eat at a restaurant made out of a converted shipping container that he wanted to duplicate it.

In March, 2011 he took the plunge and opened Escape Fish Bar and has been receiving 4 and 5 star reviews from all of the directories. He got help from the owner of Red Fish Blue Fish and a friend who is a chef in Costa Rica. With the help of these two master chefs, Scott came up with a menu that has a blend of influences from Central America, Asian and Pacific Northwest cuisines.

Seafood is their primary menu with daily specials including a lunch special that more and more San Diegan’s are taking advantage of. The overall menu consists of tapas, soups, salads and entrees with that Asian and Central American taste. Their signature dish is seafood tacones and they allow you to select either grilled or tempura battered fish. Their fish selection includes Pollock, Mahi-Mahi, Salmon, Albacore, Yellowtail, Ahi, Mango Shrimp, or local Halibut. Each plate is served with a side of rice, a potato or slaw.

At first glance I thought their menu was small, but when I realized that I could not only select my fish, I could tell them how I wanted it prepared, I felt as if they were cooking just for me. That’s a very unique feeling when you go to any restaurant. Usually they prepare everyone’s food in the same way. Escape Fish Bar treats you as if you’re the only person in the restaurant.

The bottom line is, when you want the Best San Diego Seafood, visit: http://www.escapefishbar.com
