May 30, 2012 - PRLog -- Relocating to Florida earlier this month when her husband, known in the Inventory industry as “Mr. Wonderful,” was asked to transfer from Dallas to Jacksonville for a job change.

Being the victim of a home robbery in 1996, Michelle learned how difficult recalling everything you own is.  After the robbery, Michelle and Mr. Wonderful learned the expensive lesson that without a current home inventory, you can literally be victimized twice: once by the event, and then sadly, by your own lack of preparedness without a complete list of possessions.

After seeing the comprehensive lists and photos that Michelle created after only a few hours in the home, word began to spread quickly; Michelle was able to provide more thorough and comprehensive reports than property owners were able to compile after months. Respected insurance companies, financial and estate planners, FEMA, etc. all recommend keeping a current home and business inventory but very few actually have one.

Michelle created The Inventory Experts (TIE), a national Home Inventory Professional (HIP) service currently with independent offices in DFW, Indiana, Southern California, and now North Florida. Negotiations are underway in several other US cities. TIE provides the all important third-party, unbiased comprehensive reports of property and possessions in a home and business. Their website is www.ProveItsYours.com.

“My business clients have received grants and business loans using the reports I compile. My residential clients experience a serious sense of peace when their reports are delivered. I make the hardest things in life much easier. Unavoidable things like fire, hurricane, robbery, death, divorce, and so on. We share tips for finding an ethical and reliable HIP as well as ways to perform your own Home Inventory on our blog at www.EthicalInventories.com.”

After realizing that almost half of the HIPs in North America claim to be licensed (when there is no industry license) or falsify credentials and testimonials, Michelle formed The Inventory Institute in 2009. The Inventory Institute is a national grassroots organization for ethical HIPs  working together for the good of the industry.

Michelle also teaches a ‘How to be a Home Inventory Expert’ class, wrote the nation’s first HIP certification program, crafted the first Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, wrote 12 industry books, publishes a semi-monthly industry magazine, co-hosts a weekly radio show, and masterminds often.

Michelle loves to network and is sincerely excited to get to know the Jacksonville business community. She is an active community member and passionately supports ToastMasters and various local organizations. She is currently “shopping a new Toastmasters home club in Jacksonville.” Michelle has 20 years experience in database design, implementation, and maintenance, process and procedures manual writing, credentialing, and event planning.

“Ensuring that your home and possessions are documented confidentially, ethically, and professionally is one of the smartest things any homeowner can do. When you hire a professional, your Home Inventory becomes the critical bridge that spans the gap between your home and your homeowners insurance.” Michelle Ketterman

The Inventory Institute provides credentialing, industry standards, uniform education, and a vehicle for peer review and communication for Home Inventory Professionals. The Institute also educates the public on the need for Third Party Home and Business Inventory and how to find qualified, insured professionals. The Inventory Institute was founded in 2009 after learning that 40% of Home Inventory Professionals throughout the country claimed to be licensed when there was no industry license in any state.
