A Diamond Jubilee sparkles and shines in collectibles: Queen Elizabeth reigns in souvenirs

Souvenirs in the British Empire have been taken over by the 60th Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's reign as monarch. Her Diamond Jubilee is being celebrated by all in the form of collectibles of every design, quality, and imagination.

May 31, 2012 - PRLog -- Having a 60th birthday is reason enough for a party, but celebrating 60 years as Her Majesty The Queen of the British Commonwealth is reason for an entire year of celebrating.  What is a fun party without party favors?  How about a $1000 party favor?  How about favors that were made by the leading jewelry makers, porcelain designers, and even your own tea?  England is celebrating this Diamond Jubilee in full glory.

For loyal subjects, honoring their Queen’s reign is easily accomplished with a variety of items to add to their collection.  Royal Crown Derby, a leading porcelain manufacturer known for its role in the creation of high quality porcelain, caught the eye of Royal families in the 1760’s.  They have created fine platters, bowls, tea services, and figurines to commemorate jubilees and marriages whenever they occur; this year, their line of Diamond Jubilee products are exceptional.  A pair of limited edition cat paperweights dressed as King and Queen were designed from a 1989 pair.  A Corgi, the Queen’s favorite pet, is a paperweight with the ERII Diamond Jubilee banner displayed over its body.

Bairstow Manor created a pottery bust with a double-sided image of the Queen; one side is the young face from 60 years ago, the other side, her smiling face from today.  It is limited to 500 pieces, and is very collectible.  Emma Bridgewater has a Diamond Jubilee collection including teapots, cake stands, mugs, and even cocktail napkins.

Jubilee paraphernalia can be collectible, but there are some items that are just fun, such as tea bags with the Queen holding onto the cup atop the bag.  Tea towels, tankards, mugs, plates, egg cups, and spoons are emblazoned with the Queen’s image or jubilee designs.

British Isles, a British imports shop in Houston, Texas, has been selling memorabilia for the Queen's Jubilee as well as for other recent events in the Royal Family.  Guy Streatfeild, owner of British Isles, believes the interest in royal memorabilia lies in its attraction to collectors. “Our customers appreciate having something beautiful and traditional, a reminder from the past and something to hand on to the future.”  HRH Queen Elizabeth II has seen many substantial changes during her reign, and her people enjoy celebrating that reign.
