June 1, 2012 - PRLog -- No strangers to the touring scene, Def Leppard most recently embarked on 2011 tours of the United States (with Heart), the United Kingdom (featuring Motley Crue and Steel Panther) and Australia. Beginning on the 20th of June this year, they'll return to the road with Poison and Lita Ford.

A high-energy band that always likes to put on a fun, rocking show, Def Leppard crosses several genres, and might be best described by the term "Arena Rock" which refers to the usage of incredibly large venues such as sports stadiums to provide a "coming together" experience of large numbers of fans. The band was originally formed in 1977 with members Rick Savage, Pete Willis and Tony Kenning. Soon after, front man Joe Elliott auditioned and the rest was history. After going through some personnel changes including Kenning leaving the band and a young Rick Allen joining the ranks to replace him as their drummer, they released their first studio album in 1980, "On Through the Night." Def Leppard was able, in part, to really tap into the original MTV generation, putting out several popular music videos to songs such as "Photograph" and "Bringin' On the Heartbreak." Their follow-up albums included "High 'n' Dry," "Pyromania" and "Hysteria" among others, and they're still working on material today. Perhaps one of the most inspiration moments in the history of rock surrounded this band back in 1986. After an unfortunate car crash, drummer Rick Allen lost an arm; it was assumed by many that his drumming career was through, but Allen persevered, learning to play the drums once again with his one good arm and the additional use of his legs.
