By: Reach the World In 2010, Reach the World (RTW), as part of the HP Catalyst Initiative, partnered with M.S. 218 (the Rafael Hernandez Dual Language School) to integrate RTW's global competence programming into STEM instruction in the 6th Grade and 7th Grade. As part of the program, PS/MS 218 received $130,000 in technology resources donated by HP for the GeoTech Lab (HP Lite tablets, wireless printers). This June, the GeoTech afterschool club will host PS/MS 218's first-ever science fair as a culminating event to the HP Catalyst program. To prepare for the fair, PS/MS 218 will host science instructors from HP Catalyst grantee Agastya.org, based in Bangalore, India. The instructors will teach the GeoTech students how to build and demonstrate selected science experiments used by Agastya peer educators in India. The GeoTech Club members will then be trained to speak about the models and demonstrate them to their peers using a mobile science cart On June 26, the science fair event will kick-off with a short presentation by the GeoTech Club students at 9AM. Throughout the day, classrooms in the elementary school and middle school, along with family members, will be visiting the exhibit hall. All of the teachers in the 6th Grade will be showcasing their students' RTW work. The GeoTech Club members will demonstrating select science models designed by Agastya.org, and showcasing their RTW GeoTech projects. End
