June 5, 2012 - PRLog -- Pursley Lowery Meeks (PLM), an Atlanta law firm representing clients in business litigation throughout the Southeast, today announced that Partner Christian Torgrimson is the 2012-2013 chair of the Eminent Domain Section of the State Bar of Georgia. The firm also welcomes two new associates: William Ezzell, who joins the medical practice and commercial litigation teams; and Elizabeth Story, who joins the condemnation practice team.

As chair of the Eminent Domain Section of the State Bar of Georgia, Torgrimson will participate in discussions of eminent domain education and policy issues with the legal community, general public and with elected officials -- whenever legislation relates to condemnation laws in Georgia. The 160-member Eminent Domain Section of the Georgia State Bar Association was formed in 2001.

“Given Christian’s experience and passion for protecting property rights, we are delighted that she has earned this leadership role with the State Bar related to the law of eminent domain,” said Charles Pursley Jr., a founding partner of PLM, recipient of the State Bar of Georgia’s Lifetime Achievement Award in Eminent Domain Law, and the author of Georgia Eminent Domain.

Torgrimson was nominated into the position by the former section chair and sworn in on February 29, 2012. A nearly 15-year member of the State Bar of Georgia, she previously served as secretary and chair-elect of the eminent domain section. Torgrimson frequently speaks on eminent domain law and litigates on behalf of property owners and businesses in condemnation and eminent domain proceedings brought by state, county and city governments.

Other firm announcements include the addition of attorneys William Ezzell and Elizabeth Story. “Our firm is fortunate to attract and retain exceptional legal talent in each of our practice areas, which helps us provide the industry-specific legal solutions businesses need to mitigate risk and prepare for the future,” added Pursley. “William and Elizabeth are knowledgeable and resourceful additions to our growing practice.”

Ezzell joins PLM’s medical malpractice and commercial litigation legal teams. He previously clerked for the Honorable John C. Carbo, State Court of Georgia. He also clerked for Senator Johnny Isakson and served as a legislative correspondent for the minority leader of the United States House of Representatives.

In addition to experience in medical malpractice, Ezzell brings to the firm a passion for public service and an understanding of financial regulation, immigration reform and foreign affairs. He is a graduate of Mercer University Walter F. Georgia School of Law, where he was on the Mercer Law Review and a member of the Mercer Moot Court Board. An Atlanta-native, Ezzell is also a graduate of the University of Georgia.

Story joins PLM’s condemnation team. For the past two years, she clerked for the judges of the Cherokee Judicial Circuit. Previously, Story built her legal experience with Atlanta Public Schools, Stewart, Melvin & Frost LLP, Family Violence Clinic and the Office of the Public Defender in Gainesville, Ga. She is a graduate of The University of Georgia School of Law, where she served as executive vice-president and intra-state chair of the Moot Court, and was a member of the Joseph Henry Lumpkin Inn of Court. Story also is a graduate of LaGrange College.
