June 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Victoria love releases the most profound music in years. just breathe will fill your soul with excitement, as noted in this review on the blog Sappho’s Torque:

“Imagine taking Arabic rhythms and then twisting them slightly to the side. Now fill the space with gothic-friendly vocals and a host of stringed instruments. Give lyrics with familiar and relatable themes: redemptive love, righteous indignation, artistic passion. What you’ll find when the dust settles is...a haunting five-track disc that will make you want more even if this isn’t the sort of music you normally listen to.”

Victoria Love (aka Monique Jamail) was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She began to pursue her music career in 1999, but has been singing and writing music since the year 1994 as a self-taught artist. Barely 20 years old, she recorded an 11-song CD entitled Small Victories, which received tremendous positive feedback as it and her live shows grew in popularity in her hometown.

In 2002, she convinced herself that she was ready to take on the world and quickly recorded a four-song EP at a friend’s apartment. Victoria wrote and sang all the songs and played every instrument including -- but not limited to -- drums, bass, guitars, and keyboards. After a 13-show tour in the space of three-and-a-half weeks, a series of unfortunate events of the heart reared its ugly head. Victoria went through a period of self-doubt and just about hated everything she created, which led to an eight-year hiatus from her music. Looking back on that time of her life, she labels it her metamorphosis: her need to grow up, to ignite her soul. She rid herself of old habits and objects that reminded her of years of burnout. Yet once she purged, she realized that the one constant and true joy in her life was also gone – her music. She tried to ease her way back, and when in the summer of 2010 she returned home from living in Austin, to be with family, she recognized even despite her proud, independent personality that this move was the best decision she had made in a long time.

Since then, Victoria’s entire life has completely turned around. She managed to find a way to surround her entire life by music, a dream she has had since she was a kid. Victoria landed a job at the House of Blues and at the Guitar Center, taught at The Famous Girls Rock Camp, finally began the Production of her Debut Album Ataraxis with talented Producer and Visionary James “Roz” Rosnack from Neurotic Artist Studios in Austin, TX, founded Elle Acoustique a regular event that celebrates women in music and soon to double as a non-profit organization that supports women’s music education, had two major surgeries to fix her health, climbed out of financial debt, and is now re-focused on her goal. She wants to take music, her career of choice, to the apex. The support of people who believe in her has fueled her even more. In September 2011, she released her EP just breathe and is nearing the finish of her debut album Ataraxis.

just breathe is comprised of five incredible songs, each of which holds a genuine piece of Victoria’s life in its hand. The release of songs such as “Alive Again,” “Yours for the Taking,” Needs,” “Alive Again (Acoustic Mix),” and “Yours for the Taking (Acoustic Mix)” has had a therapeutic effect on her. Each song represents the soulful, introspective mindset of this wonderful artist. Her music is a blend of international, indie, and new age rock wonder. The unique arrangements boast a sound that makes you pay attention from their first notes. Again from the Sappho’s Torque review:  “The thing about this music is that the sound is so full, it’s easy to recede into it, to let the layers of instrumentation...pile on top of you while your subconscious plays around with the vocals. It’s a singularly fun experience to lose yourself in it for a while.”

“Alive Again” is self-descriptive, a song that signifies empowerment and joy and elation, and embraces the theme of redemptive love. “Yours for the Taking” is exceptional in its arrangement. The viola, cello, violin, and oud bring out a layered and complex personality that gives audience members much to think about. What you are left with in the end is a feeling of exhilaration and a much clearer understanding of who Victoria Love truly is: a true musician, an intense soul searcher, a gift to her fans.

As a reviewer on I Am Entertainment Magazine put it, “Victoria Love's music is a breath of fresh air from all the monotony in music today. Love's voice, songwriting, and musicianship combined make her a force to be reckoned with, and I advise other female rockers to stay out of her way if [they] don't want to get [run] over.”
