India champions to represent India at Worldwide Competition in the USA

New Delhi, 10th June, 2012: Top performers in India’s secondofficial championship on Microsoft Office application skills organized by CyberLearning and Certiport were awarded and felicitated at a colorful ceremony this Fridayevening. The guests that included participating students, their parents, and doyens of the corporate and academic world were witness to the dramatic culmination of what has now become a most anticipated and eagerly contested annual academic championship of international repute- the COMPUDON.

The Winners of the championship were given medalsand awards by the Chief Guest
Dr. S.S.Jena, Chairman National Institute of Open Schooling and Guest of Honor-
Dr. Sandhya Chintala, Executive Director Sector Skills Council- NASSCOM. The 3 winners in Microsoft Office Word, Excel & PowerPoint (version 2007) a won themselves an all expenses paid trip to the 2012 Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office applications to be held in August 2012 in Las Vegas, USA. The 3 students who topped in Microsoft Office Word, Power Point and Excel  (version 2010) won themselves exciting prizes to the tune of Rs.50,000/- while the second and third runners up in all categories respectively won themselves Rs.25,000/- and Rs. 15,000/-.  The worldwide competition, organized by Certiport on an annual basis, will see participants from 60+ countries display their skills in Microsoft® Office. It will be an opportunity for our India Champions to do India proud by bringing home the ‘World Cup in MS Office’.

The institutes/schools that produced India Winners this year were also recognized for producing the top talent in MS Office applications.All finalists got a group photograph taken in presence of Chief Guestand other important guests. The raison d’être of thechampionship is the encouragement of Indian youngsters in their quest to equip themselves with the requisite computer skills that will help them get a head-start in their lives. The opportunity for Indian youngsters in the IT field are mammoth, provided the youngsters have the requisite set of skills, and competitions like these will help reinforce the importance of relevant and vocational IT education.
