June 15, 2012 - PRLog -- POMPANO BEACH, Fla. –  Broward Sheriff’s deputies’ quick response to an early-morning Sonitrol Verified Video Intrusion alarm interrupted a burglary recently at the Nextran Truck Center dealership in Pompano Beach.

At 4 a.m. on a windy, overcast morning, the Sonitrol video intrusion alarm system showed a sensor beam break at one corner of Nextran’s fully fenced truck sales and service dealership.  A thief had tripped the beam, which triggered the SonaVision Plus system’s real-time streaming video.  Multiple cameras cover the facility’s entire perimeter, and the varied  camera angles gave Sonitrol’s 24-hour central monitoring station staff a sharply focused image of an intruder moving around the Nextran lot.  Sonitrol told the Broward Sheriff’s Office that this was not a false alarm – a crime was underway.

Responding at the site within three minutes, deputies arrested a suspect just outside the fence, next to a dozen rusty brake drums.  His pants, shoes and hands were covered in rust.  On the fence next to the drums, the barbed wire had been altered to gain entry to the facility.  It appeared the brake drums had been thrown over the fence.
“Taking the guesswork out of intrusion alarm incidents with verified alarm systems means faster response times for businesses, plus greater safety and efficiency for law enforcement,” said John Ray, III, president of Sonitrol of Fort Lauderdale.  Sonitrol’s more than 10 years of experience pioneering Verified Video Intrusion Detection ensures that the company’s monitoring staff handles real-time video alarm signals to get the fastest possible response, he added.

In addition to providing Nextran with 100 percent perimeter coverage for its Pompano Beach dealership with Video Intrusion Detection, Sonitrol monitors all portions of the building’s interior with an Audio Intrusion Detection System.  The facility is one of eight in the state for Nextran, whose network of full service medium and heavy-duty truck centers are located along major truck routes throughout Florida, Georgia and Alabama.
