June 18, 2012 - PRLog -- Amanda Moscar is a cabaret folk artist, an entertainer and musician. An ‘in-the-moment’ stage performer with over the top characterizations, Amanda captivates audiences all over the world.  Her creativity and innovation hold no bounds.

Encompassing a provocative stage presence that is almost vaudevillian there is nothing subtle about her.  A first generation Canadian with zesty Italian roots, Amanda is an accomplished modern dancer, a conservatory pianist and a meticulous thinker.
Amanda’s writing began in 1998 performing for writers’ workshops and indie venues around Toronto, Stratford and Niagara.  In 2011 she completed her first live-off-the-floor music video for her single “Here Here, Now Now” and this year released her debut acoustic album of original works spanning 14 years titled “Hammers & Bones”.

Released on March 13, 2012 to rave reviews, the album is titled after her source inspiration, the piano, as well as illuminates her work in the rawest form. It is an eclectic collection of songs revealing an intricate and mature musicianship.
Like all of the songs on this album, her single “Habit” is drawn from personal experience.  It describes a self-destructive individual unwilling to grow in spite of broken relationships; a ballad whereby complex, harmonic vocals pair with rhythmic piano to deliver an emotional and thought provoking performance. “Rich Boy”, a dynamic and sassy statement on organized crime reveals a ‘Tom Waits-esque’ piano-play while “Together” brings the mood to an ethereal and honest place with vocals reminiscent of Nora Jones.

The artist describes the album “Hammers & Bones” as:

“... a woman’s story of self-criticism, grand illusions and sexual discovery relayed with brassy wit and an open heart.  Imagine kids playing dress up and telling big people stories.  Imagine a cabaret girl on speed, laughing and crying for the extremes of humanity when the scale could tip in either direction.  This is a story of the fork in the road.  A story of unending conflict:  ecstasy and loathing; anger, confusion, and frustration paired with a desperate plea of understanding, compassion and self-acceptance.  This album is a part showgirl strut and part toddlers trusting, warm embrace.”

Selected accomplishments and accolades are:

•   One released single in Rough Cuts (Apmar Music) and a single on the Toronto Independent Music Awards ‘09/’10 compilation CD.
•   Performing credits at Toronto venues such as The El Mocambo, Revival, Cameron House, Supermarket, The Trane Studio and C’est What.
•   A performance of  “Orange Man” with a twelve-piece string orchestra as part of the 2001 Maud Whitmore Festival in Charlottetown.
•   Dancers have choreographed to her pieces for independent performances throughout Toronto and Oakville, Ontario.
•   A recent collaboration with hip-hop producers “Sound So Boom” for the remix of “Here Here Now Now” (added as a Bonus Track to the album).
