Up Kids! Cheers On Miss Southern Counties

June 26, 2012 - PRLog -- (Las Vegas, NV) On July 3rd, Randi Sundquist the current Miss Southern Counties will be taking the stage to compete for the title of Miss Nevada 2012; and the opportunity to represent the State of Nevada at the Miss America Scholarship Pageant held in Las Vegas, Nevada in January 2013.

On June 2, 2012, Up Kids! a local, Las Vegas non-profit organization that raises awareness of the ‘artistic’ abilities of children with Autism, Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities was excited to have Randi attend its first fundraiser at DanceCenter Ballroom and Latin Dance Studio. Funds were raised for Up Camp!, a visual and performing arts camp for children with intellectual disabilities.  

“We were honored to have Miss Southern Counties attend our event. Randi’s presence was such a blessing. She shared her time and heart with the children. She was also able to share her personal platform of preventing bullying in schools, which extends to all children; especially those with intellectual disabilities,” explained Up Kids! Founder, Ray Garza.

“Randi also has an impressive dance talent and we are excited to have invited her to become an Up Kids! Ambassador; as Up Kids! prepares for its first Up Camp! event in 2013,” added Up Kids! Co-Founder, Alexandria.

“I am honored to be a part of such a dynamic organization. I truly believe in the artistic abilities and the creative expression of children with intellectual disabilities and when I take the stage for the Miss Nevada Pageant; the Up Kids! kids that I have met will certainly be an inspiration.” shared Randi.

On July 3, 2012, Up Kids! will be cheering for Randi as she takes the stage to compete for a scholarship and the title of Miss Nevada 2012. The Miss Nevada pageant will be held in Mesquite, Nevada at the Casablanca Resort Casino. The preliminary pageant will be held on July 2nd and the crowning of Miss Nevada will be held on July 3, 2012.

“All of us at Up Kids! are keeping our hopes up high that Randi will be crowned Miss Nevada 2012,” stated Ray and Alexandria.

Randi Sundquist is the current Miss Southern Counties 2012; she held the title of Miss Summerlin 2011 and Miss Greater Las Vegas 2010. Her personal experience of being bullied has inspired her platform of “Preventing Youth Violence and Bullying.” She is a graduate of UNLV with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies and a minor in Entertainment Management.
