Apps - What Is An App Used For?

To take this phenomenon further the debate over what makes this cell phone era so amazingly addictive is what are called apps.


So what is an App? An app is short for application or essentially a bit of software that is used to further make use of your cell phone. By owning an iphone or Android phone you can download apps for free or pay for certain apps to your cell phone to have easy access to software that will perform specific functions right from the palm of your hands.


There are two basic types of apps, those that are designed for Apple smart phones and those designed for Google’s Android phones. At present Apple is the leader in available apps that can be downloaded, but as you would expect Google is on the fast track to compete in this endeavor.

While Apple has more apps to choose from Android phone users are given highly comparable and equally competing apps to stage the ongoing battle for dominance in cell phone apps.


One significant difference in the two app giants is that Apple does not run widgets and this is something that Android phones offer on their home screen. A widget can display music choices and social media outlets in a grouping unlike their counterpart.

Now there is a very open and lucrative market for developing your own apps to offer to cell phone users to purchase, but with so many free to download apps this is are hard item to market to sell.

Unless you have a very appealing app that does something really unique don’t expect to become rich overnight. The whole premise with apps is to make one that is first a fun app or a very specific app tool that is not already available. Not to discourage you, but do your due diligence in thinking of an app that meets these criteria.
